Dina Padilla's Program for California |
*Prosecution of the insurance industry for massive cost shifting of liabilities on to local and state government agencies. *Elimination of the insurance industry in healthcare in California with a Single Payer plan. *Action to require the Federal government to properly clean up toxic dump sites and provide healthcare and compensation to those workers, veterans and communities that have been sickened by these sites instead of shifting the costs to California tax payers. Toxic dump site developers in California are not properly cleaning up these sites and those workers, veterans and people in the community are sickened and many end up with California taxpayers paying the cost of this liability. I will demand that the Federal government take responsibility to clean up toxic sites so the tax payers are not saddled with the costs. *Elimination of secrecy and confidential agreements when insurance companies and employers pay off injured workers and insurance policy holders to prevent the public from being aware of malfeasance and potential systemic criminal activity. *Removal of insurance industry representatives from the Fraud Assessment Commission and other oversight bodies that regulate the industry. I will support replacement of them with consumer activists, community and labor representatives. *A yearly public summit in California with the public, and broadcast on cable and the internet to hear directly from the people of California about their issues with the insurance industry. *Requirements from all insurance companies doing business in California to open their records to the public for inspection. *Prosecution of the insurance industry agents and the parent companies when they threaten, illegally spy on workers and clients. *Legislation that prevents insurance companies and their clients from withholding the product information that they are using in the workplace including the biotech and nanotech industry. Workers and the public are contaminated from many of these products but are unaware of what has sickened them and many end up being taken care of by public agencies in California. *Elimination of corporation “insurance death policies” that payoff when people die in companies. Corporations in California can secretly buy death policies without informing the employees of these policies. The corporation will get a payoff for their benefit while the the worker's family is not even informed of these insurance policies and do not receive the benefits for their families of the loss of their loved ones. *Legislation to eliminate corporations treated as individuals under the law. Private corporations are formed to make profits and not to benefit society. We need to eliminate their treatement as individuals and make the individuals who own the insurance and other corporations personally responsible for any criminal activity.
